After leaving a career in housing to have children, various life events and experiences led Debbie to pursue a career in counselling. Debbie trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and qualified in 2000. She worked for MIND and in GP practices, as well as in private practice. In 2009 Debbie qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), working for the NHS.
For the last 2 years she has been working for the Cambridge University Counselling Service and still maintains her private practice. CBT offers helpful strategies for managing emotions such as depression and anxiety. It is also effective for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. CBT helps us to challenge the way we think and the unhelpful behaviours that may be adding to our distress.
Counselling is an opportunity to explore and resolve distressing feelings and situations in a safe, non-judgemental, confidential environment.
