About me

My name is Nicola Lilley. I started my counselling training in 2019 and have been working with clients since 2021. Since starting my counselling training, I have developed many interests in human development, and I have worked with people from many walks of life. I have experience in various settings, including charities, which have enriched both my personal and professional development with a broader perspective on life. I can work with adults and young people aged 16 and over. I offer online and face-to-face sessions to suit requirements.

My interest in psychology and counselling started with questioning my own experience of life, challenges, and hardship. I had avoided therapy for many reasons and developed unhealthy ways of relating to myself and the world. I had always been inquisitive about myself, and others and it was my desire to learn and understand which led me to my training in Counselling. It was at the beginning of my training when I embarked on my journey of personal therapy and when my passion for therapy and assisting others through life’s challenges really began.

As a Relational Integrative Counsellor, I very much believe in the therapeutic relationship and its great importance in therapy. Growth and change occur through the embodied receiving of Empathy, Unconditional Positive Regard and Congruence, for me personally, my experience of therapy was life changing and the development in self-awareness led me to have a more effective and positive relationship with myself and my life.

Self-awareness can lead us to a new-found sense of freedom and acceptance, but it also has challenges. The process of therapy can be uncomfortable, and it takes perseverance and dedication from both client and therapist.

I can provide you with a safe space where we can work through issues together and explore your difficulties as well as honour your growth and achievements. If you feel you would like to book a free telephone consultation to discuss your needs, then please get in touch.
