Healing Through EMDR Therapy
Supporting Emotional Recovery and Resilience
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based psychotherapy proven to help individuals recover from trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, and other emotional difficulties.
During EMDR sessions, the therapist guides the client through gentle eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) while the client recalls a distressing memory. This process helps the brain “reprocess” the memory so it no longer causes the same emotional distress.
EMDR can help with:
· PTSD and traumatic experiences
· Panic attacks and anxiety
· Depression
· Phobias
· Grief and loss
· Chronic pain and medically unexplained symptoms
· Low self-esteem and emotional dysregulation
What is Attachment-Focused EMDR?
Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) is a gentle, compassionate approach designed for people who have experienced early life attachment wounds, neglect, or emotional inconsistency in caregiving.
This form of EMDR focuses on:
· Creating a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship
· Strengthening emotional regulation and self-compassion
· Processing relational trauma at a pace that feels safe and manageable
AF-EMDR is particularly helpful for those with complex trauma, early childhood adversity, or long-standing relational difficulties.
How Does EMDR Work?
EMDR is based on the understanding that traumatic memories can become “stuck” in the brain. By using eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while focusing on a
memory, the brain is able to process the experience more adaptively — reducing its emotional charge and allowing healing to occur.
